porary spin on Sicilian cookery. An excellent local wine list supplements the inspired
menu, which moves from superb appetisers like millefoglie - wafer-thin layers of crusty
cheese and ground pistachios layered with minty sweet-and-sour vegetables - straight
through to desserts like warm cinnamon-ricotta cake with homemade orange compote.

Thu-Tue) High up the many stairs of Noto Alta, this Slow Food-acclaimed trattoria with an
extensive wine list is a Noto favourite. The rustic antipasto is rich in creamy aubergine,
fried fennel, olives, cheeses and so on, and this is a great place to taste a Sicilian classic,
in season - macco di fave (broadbean puree) with ricotta and toasted breadcrumbs.

move on to memorable main courses such as lemon-stuffed bass with orange-fennel salad.
