Festivals & Events
Grosseto's patron saint, St Lawrence, is celebrated at the Festa di San Lorenzo held on
August 9th and 10th each year.
Sleeping
There are very few decent accommodation options in Grosseto, so most visitors choose to
stay in nearby agriturismi . The only decent budget option is a B&B close to Caffè
Ricasoli and is thus too noisy to recommend.

Grantosco
( 05 642 60 27; www.grantosco.it ; Via Solferino 4; meals €35; 7-10pm Mon, noon-2.30pm &
7-10pm Tue-Sat, noon-2.30pm Sun) Succulent meat dishes including Maremmese beef, cinta
senese (Tuscan pork), and cinghiale (wild boar) marinated in Morellino di Scansano wine
are the show-stoppers on the menu at this restaurant and wine bar, but the pastas and
desserts are pretty damn fine, too. Walls adorned with bottles of wine, high ceilings and
warm lighting provide an atmospheric setting.
The bar and streetside tables are popular for early-evening aperitivi (predinner drinks
accompanied by cocktail snacks); at dinner, it's advisable to book a table.
