Museo del Vino
MAP GOOGLE MAP
(Museum of Wine; www.museovino.it ; Piazza Nino Tirinnanzi 10; hr vary) Opened in 2010, the
privately established and operated Museo del Vino is a labour of love for brothers
Lorenzo and Stefano Falorni, who have spent over 40 years documenting the history of
the local wine industry and adding to their father's collection of artefacts and materials as-
sociated with it.
The collection is as extensive as it is eclectic - including historic postcards featuring
Chianti scenes, wine manuals and catalogues, wine-making machinery and implements,
barriques (a type of wine barrel) and more. An audioguide provides a fascinating narrat-
ive, as does an interview-based audiovisual presentation. At the time of research, the mu-
seum was welcoming visitors by appointment only. Email for an update.
MUSEUM
Le Cantine di Greve in Chianti
( www.lecantine.it ; Galleria delle Cantine 2; 10am-7pm) Another Falorni family enterprise, Le
Cantine di Greve in Chianti is a vast commercial enoteca stocking more than 1200 variet-
ies of wine. To indulge in some of the 140 different wines available for tasting here (in-
cluding Toscana IGTs - sometimes dubbed 'Super Tuscans' - top DOCs and DOCGs, Vin
Santo and grappa), buy a prepaid wine card costing €10 to €25 from the central bar, stick
it into one of the many taps and out trickles your tipple of choice.
Any unused credit will be refunded when you return the card. They are fabulous fun,
though somewhat distressing for designated drivers. Fortunately, it's also possible to pur-
chase bottles to drink back at the hotel or ship home. To find the cantine, look for the su-
permarket on the main road - it's down a staircase opposite the supermarket entrance.

Eating
Osteria Mangiando Mangiando
( 055 854 63 72; www.mangiandomangiando.it ; Piazza Matteotti 80, Greve in Chianti; meals €36;
noon-2.30pm & 7-10pm Feb-Dec) It may be the much-lauded recipient of a coveted Slow Food
snail of excellence, but this unpretentious place on Greve's main piazza has a friendly and
casual vibe, a cheerful but simple decor, and a menu balancing Tuscan standards and some
light and flavoursome options (especially soups) that differ from the usual local menu.
