ena (€1), organises car and scooter hire, and sells train tickets (commission applies). Also
takes bookings for a range of day tours operated by the My Tour company. These include
a package for the Palio, cooking classes, hot-air balloon rides, horse-riding, and trips to
Chianti, Montalcino, San Gimignano and Montepulciano.
Getting There & Away
BUS
Siena Mobilità ( 800 570530; www.sienamobilita.it ) , part of the Tiemme ( 0577 20 42 46;
www.tiemmespa.it ) network, runs services between Siena and other parts of Tuscany. It has a
ticket office ( 6.30am-7.30pm Mon-Fri, 7am-7.30pm Sat & Sun) underneath the main bus station
in Piazza Gramsci; there's also a left-luggage office here (per 24 hours €5.50).
A Siena Mobilità bus travels between Pisa airport and Siena (one-way/return €14/26,
two hours), leaving Siena at 7.10am and Pisa at 1pm. Tickets should be purchased at least
one day in advance from the bus station or online.
Frequent 'Corse Rapide' (Express) buses race up to Florence (€7.80, 1¼ hours); they
are a better option than the 'Corse Ordinarie' services, which stop in Poggibonsi and Colle
di Val d'Elsa en route. Other regional destinations include San Gimignano (€6, one to 1½
hours, 10 daily either direct or changing in Poggibonsi), Poggibonsi (€4.35, 50 minutes,
every 40 minutes), Arezzo (€6.60, 1½ hours, eight daily) and Colle di Val d'Elsa (€3.40,
30 minutes, hourly), with connections for Volterra (€2.75). Note that all services run to
dramatically reduced timetables on Sunday and holidays. Services to Montalcino (€4.90,
1½ hours, six daily), Montepulciano (€6.60, one hour, two daily) and Pienza (€5.50, 70
minutes, two daily) depart from outside the train station.
Sena ( 861 199 19 00; www.sena.it ) buses run to/from Rome TIbertina (€23, 3½ hours, six
daily), Fiumicino Airport (€23, 3¾ hours, two daily), Turin (€36, 8¼ hours, one daily),
Milan (€36, 4¼ hours, two daily), Venice (€29, 5½ hours, one daily) and Perugia (€12, 1½
hours, one daily). Its ticket office (
8.30am-7.45pm Mon-Sat) is also underneath the bus sta-
tion in Piazza Gramsci.
