that there are approximately 10 LCCs per dyad [3], ~50,000 active
LCCs per myocyte, and therefore ~5000 dyads per myocyte. As will
be described in a subsequent section, the detailed microstructure of
the dyad has a profound influence on the macroscopic function of
the myocyte.
