In-Depth Information
Signaling transduction pathway activation: Process by which the specii c components in
a certain pathway are modii ed with phosphorylation or dephosphorylation; then the
protein activity is increased. Such a process is ot en seen in the activation of Akt or IKK
for NF-κB activation.
Transcription factors: A group of proteins that participate in the gene expression by binding
to the specii c DNA sequences present in the promoter regions of specii c genes.
Transcriptional activity: Description of gene expression, in particular to measure the TF
binding and modii cation of mRNA expression levels in a reporter assay system. Most
of them use luciferase activity as the endpoint.
