Giovanni, this modest B&B is a real home away from home. It has few frills, but the three
guest rooms are clean as a pin, there's a kitchen for guest use, and the location, right in the
heart of the historic centre, is ideal. Guests are also treated to a complimentary bottle of
wine from Giovanni's enoteca (wine bar).

masseria (manor farm) dating to the 14th century, Gigliotto is set in rolling Tuscan-style
countryside 9km south of Piazza Armerina. The homestead has 14 rural-styled rooms and
a farmhouse restaurant with a picturesque outdoor terrace. It produces its own wine: visits
to the in-house winery and wine tastings can be arranged.

niture, 19th-century frescoes and a giant circular bed floating in a floor of liquid tiles, this
unique design hotel is one of Piazza Armerina's great sights. Each of its seven rooms is
themed after a period in design, and everything you see - and that includes works of con-
temporary art - is for sale.
The owner, Ettore, is a great source of local information and a guide around the newly
restored Villa Romana del Casale.
