is located 9km east of Erice in Valderice. Set amid citrus groves and lush gardens, the ori-
ginal stone building and its less attractive modern extension offer 67 rooms, some with
exposed stone walls and wooden ceiling beams. There's a restaurant, and the swimming
pool, with its stupendous views, is a great addition in summer.

Communal spaces at this atmospheric historic house are filled with tiled beams, marble
fireplaces, intriguing art, knick-knacks and antiques. The bedrooms are more mainstream,
although many (along with the hotel terrace and restaurant) have breathtaking vistas south
and west towards the Saline di Trapani, the Egadi Islands and the shimmering sea.

most comfortable rooms in town are on offer at this immaculately kept, family-run hotel.
The best of the bunch, room 301, has its own panoramic terrace, but all offer modern con-
