Kokalos

bling a Wild West ranch, is the perfect place to enjoy wood-fired pizza on the summer ter-
race while gazing out over the temples. You will need a car to get here - it's up a dusty
track 2km southeast of town.

Leon d'Oro
( 092 241 44 00; Viale Emporium 102; meals €35; Tue-Sun) A much-lauded local favourite, Leon
d'Oro specialises in the fish and fowl that typify Agrigento's cuisine. The menu is in local
dialect, in keeping with the rustic ambience. Dishes to look out for include baccalà (salted
cod) with potatoes and calamari su agrumi (cuttlefish served with local citrus fruits).
Owner Totò also keeps an exceptional cellar and is more than happy to advise on wine
choices.

Le Caprice

gento's better restaurants, Le Caprice is set in its own park complete with pool and swans.
It's a big place - it can cater to around 500 people - and is renowned for its swimmingly
fresh seafood. Start with a plate from the lush antipasto buffet before diving into the res-
taurant's signature dish, mixed seafood grill. A glass of cool local white is the perfect ac-
companiment.

Il Déhors

Baglio della Luna is an elegant fine-dining establishment offering innovative Sicilian
cuisine and views over the Valley of the Temples. Fresh local seafood appears in sophist-
icated creations such as sea bream with pecorino cheese and aubergine tartare, or grilled
tuna with mint couscous and pepper sauce. Reservations required.
