Ristorante Per Bacco
( 092 255 33 69; Vicolo Lo Presti 2; meals from €17; dinner Tue-Sun)
The food may not quite live
up to the charm of the setting - under stone and brick arches and beamed ceilings - but
the service is friendly, and the set menus for under €20 are good value at this restaurant
just above Via Atenea.

Kalòs

; Piazzetta San Calogero; meals €30-40; lunch & dinner)
A classic-
ally 'smart' restaurant with a couple of cute tables on the tiny balcony and excellent food.
There is home-made pasta - try the
spaghetti all'agrigentina
, a simple primo of fresh to-
matoes, basil and pistachio, and follow up with a
spada gratinata
- the fish is baked and
covered in bread crumbs. Combine with a local white wine and finish with an almond
semifreddo
.

L'Ambasciata di Sicilia
( 092 22 05 26; Via Giambertoni 2; meals €22-33; Mon-Sat)
At the 'Sicilian Embassy', they do
everything they can to improve foreign relations, plying tourists with tasty plates of tradi-
tional Sicilian fare and good seafood. Order an octopus and it arrives so fresh it feels as if
it's staring you in the eyes. Try to get a table on the small outdoor terrace, which has
splendid views.
