One of southern Europe's most
compelling archaeological sites, the 13 sq km Parco Valle dei Templi encompasses the ru-
ins of the ancient city of Akragas. The highlight is the stunning Tempio della Concordia,
one of the best-preserved Greek temples in existence and one of a series built on a ridge to
act as beacons for homecoming sailors.
The park is split into two areas: the eastern zone, with the most spectacular temples,
and over the road the western zone. There are two ticket offices, one at the park's eastern
edge by the Tempio di Hera and another at Piazza Alexander Hardcastle on the main
SS118 road between the two zones. The car park is by the eastern entrance.
