WINE TASTING & COOKING COURSES
The area west of Caltanissetta is wild and remote. But if you want to get away from everything, head to the beau-
tiful Regaleali estate ( 092 154 40 11; www.tascadalmerita.it ) near the village of Vallelunga. One of five
wine-producing estates owned by the Tasca d'Almerita family, it has some 400 hectares of vineyards, a high-tech
winery and a residential cooking school ( 093 481 46 54; www.annatascalanza.com ) run by Anna Tasca
Lanza. Visits to the winery are limited to guided tours (with optional tastings) for between eight and 25 people,
which must be booked ahead. Cooking courses range from three- to five-day packages (€1000-€2000 per person
including accommodation) to a day-long lesson and lunch (€150). Further details are available on the website.
Eating
Vicolo Duomo
( 093 458 23 31; Vicolo Neviera 1; meals €30; closed Sun & lunch Mon) Hidden away in a tiny alley-
way just off Piazza Garibaldi, this is the place to eat in town. A colourful trattoria, it spe-
