Getting Around
Train Trenitalia service is fast and frequent along the coast from Palermo to Messina and Syracuse to Messina. Less fre-
quent and slower trains run from Palermo to Agrigento, Trapani and Marsala.
Ferry/hydrofoil Efficient ferries and hydrofoils serve Sicily's outer islands. Milazzo is the main port for services to the
Aeolian Islands, Trapani for the Egadi Islands, Palermo for the island of Ustica.
Car This is the most convenient option if you're travelling away from the coast or visiting smaller towns and remote ar-
chaeological sites (Segesta, Selinunte, Piazza Armerina etc). Car hire is readily available at all airports and many towns.
Bus Slow, infrequent service. Useful for more remote villages not served by train.
