Getting There & Around
BOAT
The main port is Marina Lunga, where you'll find a joint ticket office for the two main
companies serving the island - Siremar ( 090 981 12 20; www.siremar.it ) and Ustica Lines ( 090
981 24 48; www.usticalines.it ) - and a kiosk for the smaller ferry operator NGI ( 090 928 40 91;
www.ngi-spa.it ) . Timetable information is displayed at the ticket office and is also available
at the tourist office. Adjacent to the ticket offices is a left-luggage office ( 347 997 35 45; per
piece for 12hr €3, plus €5 if left overnight; 8am-5pm) . From Lipari you can catch ferries and hydro-
foils to all the other islands: Vulcano (ferry/hydrofoil €4.70/5.80, 25/10 minutes), Santa
Marina Salina (ferry/hydrofoil €6.70/9.60, 50/25 minutes), Panarea (ferry/hydrofoil €7.50/

Island bus services are run by Autobus Guglielmo Urso ( 090 981 10 26; www.ursobus.com/orariurso-
bus.pdf ) . Opposite the Esso petrol station at Marina Lunga is the bus stop. One main route
serves the island's eastern shore, from Lipari Town to Canneto (five minutes) and Acquac-
alda (20 minutes), with 12 buses Monday to Saturday, seven on Sunday. Another route
runs from Lipari Town to the western highland settlements of Quattrocchi, Pianoconte and
Quattropani. Individual tickets range in price from €1.50 to €1.90. If you plan on using the
bus a lot, you'll save money by buying a ticket booklet (six/10/20 tickets for €7/10.50/
20.50).
CAR & MOTORCYCLE
Lipari is not big − only 38 sq km − but to explore it in depth it can be helpful to have your
