In-Depth Information
Unfortunately, the modern village of Marinella di Selinunte hasn't retained any of its an-
cient predecessor's grandeur and beauty. Amid the profusion of shoddily constructed holi-
day accommodation, you'll find a largely uninspiring clutch of restaurants by the water-
front, along with a few tourist cafes around the archaeological site's car park. Below are a
couple of better options, one in town, the other further afield.
Lido Zabbara

( 0924 4 61 94; Via Pigafetta; buffet per person €12) For tasty, reasonably priced food near the
temples, head straight for this low-key eatery on the beachfront. The outdoor terrace here
makes a delightful spot to enjoy grilled fish and the varied buffet of two dozen items, in-
cluding many salads and vegetables.
BUFFET
Da Vittorio
( 0925 7 83 81; www.ristorantevittorio.it ; meals €28-45) Travellers with their own vehicles should
consider driving 15km east of Selinunte to this venerable eatery on the Porto Palo beach-
front. In business for more than 45 years, Da Vittorio has earned a reputation as one of
western Sicily's best spots for fresh seafood. The front-row view of crashing breakers is
wonderful any time of day, but especially at sunset.
Rooms are available upstairs for anyone too stuffed to drive home (single €50 to €60,
double €80 to €90).
