In-Depth Information
The stunning promontory between Castellammare del Golfo and Monte Cofano (659m) is
perhaps the most beautiful in all of Sicily. At its foot lies the fishing village of Castellam-
mare del Golfo, founded by the Elymians as the port for the city of Segesta. It has a pleas-
ant harbour that is overlooked by the remains of a much-modified Saracen castle and sur-
rounded by sandy beaches, making it a hugely popular summer holiday destination.
