» Riserva Naturale dello Zingaro ( Click here ) - this nature reserve has more than 40 species, including the rare Bonelli
eagle, hawks, buzzards, kestrels, swifts and Imperial crows, as well as the 'Greek Partridge of Sicily' - an endemic spe-
cies nearly extinguished in the province of Trapani, but which has started to repopulate the area from the reserve.
» Parco Regionale dei Nebrodi ( Click here ) - the park has some 150 species of birds, among them endemic species like
the Sicilian marshtit and the Sicilian long-tailed tit. Birds of prey populate the edges of the park, and you can spot buzza-
rds, kestrels and the peregrine falcon, as well as the golden eagle. Species like the little grebe, the coot, the dipper and the
kingfisher live in the wetlands.
» Mozia ( Click here ) - this tiny island is a haven for many species, including flamingos, herons, storks and cranes, as
well as grey herons.
» Riserva Naturale Oasi Faunistica di Vendicari ( Click here ) - the wetlands are home to flamingos, herons, spoonbills,
cranes, ducks, cormorants and collared pratincoles.
» Lingua ( Click here ) - Salina's lagoon attracts huge numbers of migrating birds in April; scores of Eleonora's falcons
(Falco eleonorae) return to nest here.
