THE DESIGN SKETCHES
The last thing we need to do with this design is prepare the sketches of the system so that
design drawings can be prepared. We will provide sufficient information on those sketches
so that a draftsperson can prepare the design drawings. Three sketches are needed for the
design of this frame. The general arrangement for the floor and roof deck framing previ-
ously was shown in Figure 21.4. The other sketch needed is shown in Figure 21.9. It is the
sketch showing the final member sections and the required steel areas. It also shows any
special design assumptions that must be verified on the construction drawings.
After the rest of the building is designed, other sketches indicating those designs will
need to be prepared. When reviewing the design and construction drawings, we will need
to ensure that the notes about the connections are satisfied.

Note: All connections between the columns
and the girders must be continuous and provide
full transfer of moment.
