In-Depth Information
In Problems 13.27 and 13.28 , determine the safety fac-
tors against overturning and sliding for the gravity and
semigravity walls shown if 30 and the coefficient
of sliding (concrete on soil) is 0.45. Compute also the
soil pressure under the toe and heel of each footing. The
soil weighs 16 kN/m 3 , and the plain concrete used in
the footing weighs 22.7 kN/m 3 .
In Problems 13.29 and 13.30 , if Rankine's coefficient is
0.35, the soil weight 16 kN/m 3 , the concrete weight 23.5
kN/m 3 , and the coefficient of friction (concrete on soil)
is 0.50, determine the safety factors against overturning
and sliding for the wall shown.
