Visas
Spain is one of 25 member countries of the Schengen Convention, under which 22 EU
countries (all but Bulgaria, Cyprus, Ireland, Romania and the UK) plus Iceland, Norway
and Switzerland have abolished checks at common borders.
EU nationals require only their ID cards to visit Spain. Nationals of many other coun-
tries, including Australia, Canada, Israel, Japan, New Zealand and the USA, do not require
visas for tourist visits to Spain of up to 90 days. Citizens of countries not mentioned above
should check whether they need a visa with their Spanish consulate.
