Refunds
Non-EU residents are entitled to a refund of the 18% IVA (the Spanish equivalent of VAT
or GST) on purchases of more than €90.16 from any shop if they take the goods out of the
EU within three months. Ask the shop for a Cashback (or similar) refund form, which you
present (with goods, prior to check-in) at the customs booth for IVA refunds when you
leave Spain. At Barcelona airport, look for the customs booth opposite the bar on the
ground floor of Terminal A. Note that IVA is expected to rise to 20% in 2013.
