In-Depth Information
Platja de la Barceloneta
The narrow streets of Barceloneta can feel claustrophobic after awhile, but luckily the ex-
pansive seafront is just steps away. Barcelona's inner-city beach
Platja de la Barceloneta
is packed with people and activity. A series of bars on the sand churn out meals, cocktails
and music for the hordes of sun worshippers. Up in the northeast corner, a string of hip
bar-restaurants get especially busy on languid summer nights.
Port Olímpic
A long promenade shadows the waterfront up to the marina of
Port Olímpic
, which was
created for the 1992 Olympics and is jammed with seafood restaurants. An eye-catcher on
the approach from Barceloneta is Frank Gehry's giant copper
Peix
(Fish) sculpture. Just to
the north is the agreeable Platja de Nova Icària.
