Església de Santa Maria del Mar (
Blessed in 1384, this church is one of the purest examples of Catalan Gothic. It was raised
in record time with stones painstakingly carried down from a quarry on Montjuïc. The
church is remarkable for its architectural harmony and managed to survive a devastating
11-day fire during the civil war. Live concerts and recitals are regularly staged inside.
