The Barri Gòtic might be Barcelona's quintessential medieval quarter, but you have to
roam a few blocks east to view its greatest Gothic monument. This 14th-century church ex-
hibits the purest manifestation of the Gothic genre. The exterior is rather monastic, but in-
side, soaring columns, a light-filled apse and magnificent stained-glass windows create a
sense of solemn beauty.
