A fantastic funk find in
the heart of the Barri Gòtic, Marula will transport you to the 1970s and the best in funk
and soul. James Brown fans will think they've died and gone to heaven. It's not, however,
a monothematic place and occasionally the DJs slip in other tunes, from breakbeat to
house.
POLAROID

True to name, Polaroid is a blast from the
past with its VHS tapes mounted on the walls, old film posters, comic-book-covered
tables, action-figure displays and other kitschy decor. Not surprisingly, it draws a fun, un-
pretentious crowd who come for cheap
cañas
(draught beer, €2), good mojitos and free
popcorn.
DUSK
Lounge
(Carrer de la Mercè 23; 6pm-2.30am; Drassanes)
Tucked away on an atmospheric lane in
the Gothic quarter, Dusk teeters between rowdy bar and intimate cocktail lounge. It has
various rooms with low lighting, age-old brick walls and comfy couches framed by red
curtains but also shows sports on a big-screen TV. It's a mostly foreign crowd swilling
cocktails and nibbling on tapas.
BOSC DE LES FADES

(Passatage de la Banca 5; 10am-1am; Drassanes)
True to name, the 'Forest of the Faeries'
offers a whimsical retreat from the busy Ramblas nearby. Lounge chairs and lamplit tables
are scattered beneath an indoor forest complete with trickling fountain and grotto.
