This top-notch all-inclusive wilderness resort combines the right amount of luxury with a
rustic, tropical ambience. On the site are 16 spacious, thatched bungalows, all decked out
with queen-sized beds, bamboo furniture, garden showers and private decks with panor-
amic views. An extensive trail system allows exploration of the 400-hectare reserve, while
swimming, snorkeling and surfing are within easy reach. Rates include all meals, plus a
round-trip transfer from Puerto Jiménez and various tours, classes and workshops. Reser-
vations should be made as far in advance as possible.

Tucked in amid the windswept beach and lush jungle, this is a little plot of paradise. The
six beautifully handcrafted bamboo bungalows are entirely open-air, allowing for all the
natural sounds and scents to seep in (though protected by thatch roofs and mosquito nets).
Hammocks swing from the palms, while howler monkeys swing above. Rates include
breakfast, but Nico - co-owner and cook - also serves an excellent, all-organic dinner.
Yoga classes (US$12) are offered every morning.

This is the end of the line on Cabo Matapalo, where the road stops pretending and turns in-
to a sandy beach path. The property includes three cozy cabañas that are equipped with
solar power, large screened windows, full kitchens and garden showers. Well-suited to
surfers and self-sufficient types, these cabañas are practically steps from the beach and al-
low for self-catering. Advance booking recommended.
