Orientation
The compact, gridded and easily walkable town is located to the west of the Río
Platanares, which feeds a modest estuary and mangrove forest before reaching the Golfo
Dulce and ferry pier. On the east side are the Área de Conservación Osa headquarters and
the airstrip. There is also a tiny access road leading to Playa Platanares, which is lined with
a few upmarket properties.
