Many of the accommodations along the northern part of the peninsula are lovely but isol-
ated - great for honeymooners who want to get away, not too exciting for others. Back-
packers tend to move past all the following and head to Puerto Jiménez.

Lots of love has gone into the construction of this tiny clutch of cabinas on the northern
shores of Golfo Dulce. It's situated 15km northeast of Rincón on 30 hectares of hilly, for-
ested property (not a single tree has been felled), and guests can take advantage of a net-
work of trails that winds through the property and down to the beach.
Bosque del Río Tigre ECOLODGE

from US$538; )
On the edge of the Reserva Forestal Golfo Dulce, in the midst of a 13-hectare private re-
serve, this off-the-beaten-track ecolodge is a bird-watcher's paradise, and a place that's
fancy without being pretentious. Four well-appointed guest rooms and one private, open-
air cabin have huge windows for viewing birds. Find directions and intermittent closed
periods on its website; email reservations preferred.
