This long-standing family-run spot serves up huge breakfasts of gallo pinto (a stir-fry of
rice and beans),eggs and toast; banana pancakes; casados with fresh seafood; burgers and
fries; and cheap beer. Look for the Bar La Plaza sign just inland from the soccer field; the
soda and bar share this space.
Information
Pavones has no bank or gas station, so make sure you have plenty of money and gas prior

Getting There & Away
NatureAir ( www.natureair.com ) and Alfa Romeo Aero Taxi ( www.alfaromeoair.com ) offer
charter flights. Prices are dependent on the number of passengers, so it's best to try to or-
ganize a larger group if you're considering this option.
Two daily buses go to Golfito (US$4, two hours). The first leaves at 5:15am, departing
from the end of the road in Punta Banco and stopping opposite the Riviera. The second
leaves 12:30pm from the school. You can also pick up the early bus in Pavones; check loc-
ally for the current bus stops. Buses from Golfito depart at 10am (to Pavones) and 3pm (to
Punta Banco via Pavones) from the stop at the Muellecito.
A 4WD taxi will charge about US$80 from Golfito, and US$60 from Paso Canoas. If
you're driving, follow the directions to Zancudo and look for the signs to Pavones.
