Parque Nacional Marino Ballena
It's appropriate that this lovely, relatively quiet national park is shaped like a whale's
tail; from the beaches it's possible to spot the migrating giants as they swim near
shore.

Hacienda Barú National Wildlife Refuge
Excellent trails and naturalist-led hikes make this the best bird-watching spot on the
central Pacific coast. And just in case spotting rare tropical birds doesn't thrill you,
