In-Depth Information
Aside from the hotel restaurants, your best option for cheap eats is to head to nearby
Paraíso, though there are a few small spots on the beach.
El Castillo Divertido HOTEL
( 2658-8428, 8351-5162; www.castillodivertido.com ; d US$30-40; )
On a hilltop you'll find the entrance to this funky, colorful faux-dobe lodge, decked out
with crenelated walls and carved masks, with panoramic views from the rooftop bar. Take
advantage of the one-of-a-kind kayaking tours through the Río Nanda Moja and surround-
ing mangroves.
Mundo Milo Ecolodge BUNGALOW
( 2658-7010; www.mundomilo.com ; d incl breakfast US$67-77; )
The most creative nest in the area is this Dutch-owned ecolodge, where attention to detail
is paramount. Choose between three fan-cooled, sky-lit bungalows, each with a full kit-
chen and private patio and styled after a different world region (Africa, Mexico, Persia).
The pool is an artful arc overlooking the dry tropical woodland, with monkeys howling,
birds chatting and waves crashing in the distance.
Hotel Iguanazul HOTEL
( 2658-8123; www.hoteliguanazul.com ; d with/without air-con US$120/89; )
Gorgeously perched on a 19m bluff, this palm-shaded property overlooks the swirling,
thrashing sea. The three-star standalone casitas are satisfactory, if not fabulous. Even if
you're not staying here, the bar is a popular spot to sip happy-hour specials and watch the
sun drop into the ocean.
Hotelito Sí Sí Sí GUESTHOUSE
( 8376-2284, 2658-7118; www.hotelitosisisi.com ; incl breakfast d/casita US$102/123; )
Ensconced in the Tierra Pacifica 'eco' development, this little guesthouse has access to fa-
cilities such as tennis courts, gym and yoga studio, swimming pool and Jacuzzi. The villa
itself, shrouded in bougainvillea, has three tiled rooms, each with beamed ceiling, king bed
and time-sucking front porch, as well as a cute casita with a fully equipped kitchen.
