Use your vacation time wisely by learning Spanish. There are several language schools in
Tamarindo, all of which charge about US$420 to US$440 for a week-long intensive course
(beginner to advanced), including 'homestay' accommodations with a Tico family. Most
schools offer multiple-week discounts, and 'Spanish & Surf' packages that include lan-
guage lessons, surf classes, accommodations and board rentals for about US$600 per
week.

Tours
Boat tours, snorkeling trips and scooter rentals can be arranged through various tour agen-
cies in town. Many also rent out equipment.

ECOTOUR
The official Tamarindo branch of the nearby national park, it books turtle-spotting night
tours and offers daytime estuary tours. This is also where you'll grab a boat across the river
to Playa Grande.

It runs sportfishing trips on its own boats. Other tours include sunset sailing, surfing, can-
opy tours and wildlife-watching in Palo Verde.
