In late January the town hosts a multiday
Fiesta Cívica
, with bullfights, rodeos, dancing
and plenty of drinking. On the Saturday closest to 16 July, the
Fiesta de la Virgen del
Mar
features a festive boat procession in the harbor and a horse pageant on the land.

Fan-cooled rooms have ceramic tiled floors, beamed ceilings and cold-water showers.
Singles are clean but cramped. Double rooms are far better and worth the extra dosh.

Relaxed and relaxing, this motel-style inn has basic but immaculate tiled rooms in a shady
longhouse. It's on a quiet side road, with a communal kitchen, barbecue grills and pleasant
garden. Look for the giant monkey mural.
Cabinas Coco Azul

This two-story, white-and-brick building is the best of several budget
cabinas
located in a
leafy gated complex behind the church. Rooms are sparkling clean and comfy with cold-
water showers. The owner was installing a community kitchen at the time of research.

Richard and Mary Cox offer a warm welcome to Playa del Coco, with a wide range of
rooms, a friendly bar and the best American breakfast in town (think biscuits and gravy).
Most of the rooms feature stenciling or thematic murals, hand-painted by Mary herself.
Stop by for Monday or Friday happy hour to shoot the breeze with the expats.
