service and a free morning paper. Some units have terraces; about two-thirds of the rooms
have showers only, so r equest a tub if y ou require one. A 24-hour D enny's adjoins the
hotel. If you've brought the kids along, request the Sleepy Bear Den, a separate sleeping

3 L.A.'S WESTSIDE & BEVERLY HILLS

The Westside is home to the city's most centrally located, star-studded, and dining/shop-
ping/nightlife-rich communities. As such, hotels tend to ward the pricey end of the
scale—this is where you can find L.A. 's largest concentration of luxur y hotels, many of
which you've no doubt seen on TV or the big scr een. There aren't many bargains to be
found, so trav elers in sear ch of the best v alues shouldn't set their hear ts on a Westside
location. Even so, I've managed to ferret out a few good midpriced and budget options.
