Pacific Design C enter
Something of an ar chitectural and cultural landmar k, the
Pacific Design Center is the West Coast's largest facility for interior design goods and fine
furnishings. It houses 200 sho wrooms filled with furnitur e, fabrics, flooring, wallco ver-
ings, kitchen and bath fixtures, lighting, art, and accessories. Locals refer to the PDC as
the B lue Whale in r eference to its exterior , composed entir ely of brilliant blue glass.
Technically, businesses here sell to the trade only, and their wholesale prices r eflect that.
Tip:
For a small fee the center will pr ovide a decorator-for-the-day to ser ve as official

Since Westfield acquired this open-air shopping center in
2002, it's undergone a massive $150-million renovation in an attempt to transform this
lackluster location into the ar ea's premier shopping, dining, and enter tainment destina-
