THE VIEW COMING UPRIVER TO HO CHI MINH CITY
As ships churn up the Mekong, travelers see sights familiar to Joseph Conrad and Somerset
Maugham: cargo ships, sampans (with laundry strung on the deck), children scampering on
cargo, ferries, fishing boats, tugs—a busy river traffic. Houses and shacks on the riverbank,
