8.15. REQUEST FOR ANALYSIS
It is essential that samples leaving the field office for the analytical laboratory be
accompanied by a request for analysis (RFA) form, which will be different for different
laboratories. Both the COC and the RFA forms should have a contact person clearly and
easily identified on them. The

TABLE 8.3 Computer Storage Devices
Device
Type of media
Condition of stored data
Floppy drive
Floppy disk
Data easily stored and transported. Limited storage capacity.
Data can be erased or otherwise lost.
Zip drive
Zip disk
Data are easily stored and transported. Will hold more data
than floppy disk. Data can be erased or otherwise lost.
Memory stick
and card
Memory chip
Data easily stored and transported. Holds about same amount
of data as zip drive, but is much smaller and more
transportable.
Hard drive
Nonremovable
hard disk
Holds large amount of data. Usually an integral part of a
computer. Not easy to transport. Data can be erased or
otherwise lost.
CD burner
CD-R
Holds large amount of data. Burner is usually integral part of
computer. Data cannot be erased.
CD burner
CD-RW
Same as above, but CD can be rewritten on, thus loss of data
is possible.
