is used as reference or a signal ground. In coaxial cable, the role of signal-
ground conductor is always played by the external cylindrical conductor. In
both cables, conductors are insulated to provide electrical separation between
each other and from any external circuits.
In bus topology, all network nodes are connected to the network medium
(cable) in the same way. Figure 4.11 represents a model of such a connection,
which is part of the function of the transceiver. The model is generalized and
