Walking Tours
A Friend in Rome ( 340 5019201; www.afriendinrome.it ) Silvia Prosperi organises private tailor-made tours (on
foot, by bike or scooter) to suit your interests. She covers the Vatican and main historic centre as well as areas outside the
capital. Rates are €40 to €50 per hour, with a minimum of three hours for most tours. Silvia can also arrange kid-friendly
tours, mosaic lessons, cooking classes and coastal cruises.
Dark Rome ( 06 8336 0561; www.darkrome.com ) Runs a range of themed tours, costing from €20 to €150, including
skip-the-line visits to the Colosseum and Vatican Museums and private visits to the Sistine Chapel. Other popular choices
include a Crypts and Catacombs tour, which takes in Rome's buried treasures, and a day trip to Pompeii.

ing (skip- the-line) tours of the Vatican (under/over 26yr €27/32) and Ancient & Old Rome (under/over 26yr €25/30) as
well as various other tours - see the website for further details. Note that tour prices do not cover admission charges to the
Vatican Museums and Colosseum.
Through Eternity Cultural Association MAP GOOGLE MAP ( 06 700 93 36; www.througheternity.com ) A reli-
able operator offering a range of private and group (maximum 13 people) tours led by English-speaking experts. Walks
include a group twilight tour of Rome's piazzas and fountains (€33, 2½ hours), the Vatican Museums (avoiding the
queues) by day/night (€54/66, 3½ hours), St Peter's Basilica (€62, five hours), and a Caravaggio tour (€48, three hours).
Roma Cristiana MAP GOOGLE MAP ( 06 6989 6380; www.operaromanapellegrinaggi.org ) Runs various walking
tours, including visits to the Vatican Museums (adult/reduced €26.50/19.50) and St Peter's Basilica (€25).
Arcult MAP GOOGLE MAP ( 339 6503172; www.arcult.it ) Run by architects, Arcult offers excellent customisable
group tours focusing on Rome's contemporary architecture. Prices depend on the itinerary.
Bus Tours
Trambus 110open ( 800 281281; www.trambusopen.com ; family/adult/reduced €50/20/18; every 15min
8.30am-7pm) A hop-on, hop-off bus tour. It departs from Viale Einaudi near Termini, and stops at the Colosseum, Bocca
della Verità, Piazza Venezia, St Peter's, Ara Pacis and Trevi Fountain. Tickets are valid for 48 hours and are available on
board, from the info boxes on Piazza dei Cinquecento and at the Colosseum.
Trambus Archeobus ( 800 281281; www.trambusopen.com ; family/adult €40/12; half-hourly 9am-12.30pm &
1.30-4.30pm) A stop-and-go bus that takes sightseers down Via Appia Antica, stopping at points of archaeological in-
terest along the way. It departs from Viale Einaudi and tickets, valid for 48 hours, can be bought online, on board, at the
Piazza dei Cinquecento or Colosseum info boxes and at authorised dealers.
Open Bus Cristiana ( www.operaromanapellegrinaggi.org ; 24hr ticket €21; 9am-5.30pm) The Vatican-sponsored
Opera Romana Pellegrinaggi runs a hop-on, hop-off bus departing from Via della Conciliazione and Termini. Tickets are
available on board, online or at the meeting point at Piazza Pio XII just off St Peter's Square.
