In-Depth Information
Street art also thrives in Rome, particularly in the suburbs of San Lorenzo, Pigneto and
Ostiense, where walls are covered in stencil art, poster work and graffiti. In recognition of
this, Rome city council launched a ground-breaking initiative in 2012 giving local
'writers' − as Rome's graffiti artists call themselves − free use of 31 designated areas
across town. These include spaces at the metro stations Monti Tiburtina , Santa Maria del
Soccorso, Ponte Mammolo and Rebibbia (all line B).
