Lovely Bracciano lies 32km northwest of Rome, and is the second largest of the volcanic lakes in the region. It's a
beautiful blue expanse of 57.5 sq km, with picturesque towns dotted around its edge. At Bracciano itself, you can

beach in the town. If you'd like to stay, Domus Anguillara ( 06 996 83 96; www.domusangularia.com ; Piazza
del Comune 7; d €60-75) is a charming small B&B with three rooms, lovely owners and stunning lake views. If
you have your own transport, the restaurant Iotto ( 06 904 17 46; Corso Vittorio Emanuele 96; meals around
€35) , in nearby Campagnano di Roma, is a fabulous place to eat, with particularly good fried dishes. Anguillara
(55 minutes) and Bracciano (one hour) are accessible via train from Roma Ostiense (€2.60, half-hourly).
