DRINKING & NIGHTLIFE
The ex-industrial area of Ostiense is fertile clubbing land, with its many warehouses,
workshops and factories given a new lease of life as pockets of nightlife nirvana. This
is where Rome's serious clubbers lose countless hours worshipping at the shrines of
electro, nu-house, nu-funk and all sorts of other eclectica.
DOPPIOZEROO
( 06 5730 1961;
doppiozeroo.com
;
Via Ostiense 68; 7am-2am Mon-Sat; Piramide)
This easygoing bar
was once a bakery, hence the name ('double zero' is a type of flour). But today the sleek,
modern interior attracts hungry, trendy Romans like bees to honey, especially for the fam-
ously lavish, dinnertastic
aperitivo
between 6.30pm and 9pm. There's a buffet lunch on
Saturday and Sunday, and DJs every Thursday.
BAR
PORTO FLUVIALE
( 06 574 31 99;
www.portofluviale.com
; Via del Porto Fluviale 22; 10.30am-2am; Piramide)
A large bar
in a converted factory, this has an ex-industrial, shabby chic look - dark-green walls and a
brickwork floor - and is a relaxing, appealing place for morning coffee,
aperitivo
or an
evening drink to a soundtrack of plinky jazz. In line with Rome's current love of artisanal
brews, they serve their own Porto Fluviale craft beer (medium €4).
BAR
NEO CLUB
(Via degli Argonauti 18; 11pm-4am Fri & Sat; Garbatella)
This small, dark two-level club has an
underground feel and is one of the funkiest choices in the zone, featuring a dancetastic
mish-mash of breakbeat, techno and old-skool house.
NIGHTCLUB
GOA
( 06 574 82 77;
www.goaclub.com
; Via Libetta 13; 11.30pm-4.30am Thu-Sat; Garbatella)
Goa is
Rome's serious super-club, with international names, ethnic-styling, a fashion-forward
crowd, podium dancers and heavies on the door. Look out for the regular lesbian night,
