With an under-the-stars terrace and cool, arched interior, ConteStaccio is one of the
top venues on the Testaccio clubbing strip. Daily gigs by emerging groups set the tone,
spanning indie, rock, acoustic, funk and electronic. Admission is usually free with cocktails
costing around €8.

vibe, head to this historic
centro sociale
(an ex-squat turned cultural centre) occupying the
city's graffiti-sprayed former slaughterhouse. Entrance is cheap, the beer flows and there's
plenty of music action with live DJ sets and gigs, mostly techno, dancehall, reggae, dubstep
and drum 'n' bass.

Rome's best-known
gay club, L'Alibi does high-camp with style, putting on kitsch shows and playing sultry,
soulful house to a mixed gay and straight crowd. It's spread over three floors and if the
sweaty atmosphere in the dance halls gets too much, head up to the huge summer roof ter-
race. Thursday nights are big with the ever-popular Gloss party featuring drag shows, buff
dancers and mainstream tunes.
