ded the hair of the likes of Sophia Loren. His family-run, 2nd-floor salon is adorned with photos of Sr Valente
with Valentino, Helen Mirren and Pope John Paul (not sure whether he had a blow dry), and you're greeted by
two pristine poodles. It's less expensive than you might expect: €27 for a for a blow dry, €20 to €25 for a mani-
cure and €30 to €40 for a pedicure.

in 1873 and sells top hats, bowlers and deerstalkers, as well as hacking jackets, to a
princely clientele, as if nothing much has changed since it first opened its doors. The
hours are quintessentially Roman, too - they open when they feel like it.
