in soft leather. From the window they all look a bit traditional, but you're bound to find
something you'll like in the jam-packed interior.

This is the oldest photographic business in the world.
The Florentine Alinari brothers founded their enterprise in 1852 and produced more than a
million plate-glass negatives in their lifetimes. At their Rome shop you can buy beautiful
prints of their work depicting the city in the 19th century, as well as some meaty coffee-
table books on photography.

This basement appears to be full of the cast-offs of
an eccentric, aristocratic family, with bric-a-brac, curios, antiques and unique furniture.
Wrought-iron furniture and leather sofas sit alongside a selection of animal-shaped an-

animalier
sculptures.
