and colourful bags.

This apothecary-like, wonderfully scented shop sells herbal essences, spirits, soaps, balms
and liqueurs, all created by monks across Italy. You can stock up on everything from sage
toothpaste to rose shampoo, cherry brandy and elixirs for happiness (€13) and love (€20),
though quite why monks are expert at this is anyone's guess.

On Via dei
Coronari, a lovely pedestrian street lined by antique shops, Casali deals in old prints,
many delicately hand-coloured. The shop is small but the choice is not, ranging from
16th-century botanical manuscripts to postcard prints of Rome.
