Tempio di Castore e Polluce & Casa delle Vestali
From the path that runs parallel to Via Sacra, you'll see the stubby ruins of the Basilica Gi-
ulia MAP GOOGLE MAP , which was begun by Julius Caesar and finished by Augustus.
At the end of the basilica, the three columns you see belong to the 5th-century-BC Tempio
di Castore e Polluce (Temple of Castor and Pollux). Near the temple, the Chiesa di Santa
Maria Antiqua MAP GOOGLE MAP is the oldest Christian church in the Forum, and the
Casa delle Vestali (House of the Vestal Virgins) was home to the virgins who tended the
flame in the adjoining Tempio di Vesta MAP GOOGLE MAP .
