Monti'.
In summer, concerts take place in the wonderful setting of Centrale Montemartini, an
ex-power station in Ostiense filled with classical sculpture, and at Open Colonna, the
glass-roofed restaurant at the Palazzo delle Esposizioni. Other clubs, such as Contestaccio
in Testaccio, line up acts from extreme electro to U2 tribute bands. Micca Club, in south-
ern Rome, hosts an eclectic mix, including swing, rockabilly and jazz.
The centri sociali , alternative arts centres set up in venues around Rome, are also good
places to catch a gig, especially Brancaleone in northern Rome, and Villagio Globale in
Testaccio, with music encompassing hip-hop, electro, dubstep, reggae and dancehall.

enormously depending on the venue and artist. Hotels can often reserve tickets for guests, or you can contact the

Dance
Dance is not an art form that receives much patronage in Italy, and the best dancers tend
to go abroad to work. But visiting dance companies are often class acts, and they're enthu-
siastically supported. The Teatro dell'Opera di Roma is home to Rome's official Corps de
Ballet and has a ballet season running in tandem with its opera performances. In summer
performances are outdoors at the Terme di Caracalla. Rome's Auditorium hosts classical
