There is only a smattering of dedicated clubs and bars in Rome, though many nightclubs
host regular gay and lesbian nights. Close to the Colosseum, San Giovanni in Laterano is
nicknamed 'gay street' as it has a cluster of a couple of gay bars and businesses. Else-
where, you usually have to ring a bell to gain entry to Rome's gay bars. However, Rome's
pinker side is by no means invisible: there's a Gay Pride march annually in mid-June and
cinema and even fitness areas, hosting gigs and club nights, such as
