In-Depth Information
Pestalotia aucubae Aucuba Leaf Spot . The
fungus appears as a weak parasite in sunscald
spots or after other fungi.
Pestalotia cliftoniae Leaf Spot on buckwheat-
tree. Ashy or pale brown spots. Spores usually
curved, constricted at septa, three setae at crest.
Pestalotia
Neottiospora
Deuteromycetes; Coelomycetes
Pycnidia dark, smooth, innate; spores hyaline,
one-celled with two to several appendages at the
apex.
Alpakesa yuccifolia (formerly Neottiospora
yuccifolia ). Yucca Leaf Spot .
Neottiospora
Pestalotiopsis
funerea ). Leaf Spot , Bark and Cone Spot on
conifers.
Pestalotia
funerea (see
Pestalotiopsis
maculans ). Camellia Leaf Spot , widespread.
Pestalotia
guepini (see
yuccifolia (see
Alpakesa
yuccifolia ). Yucca Leaf Spot .
Pestalotiopsis
leucothoe¨s ). Leucotho¨ Leaf Spot , apparently
following winter injury or other disease.
Pestalotia macrotricha
leucotho¨s (see
Ophiodothella
Pestalotiopsis
quepini var. macrotricha ). Rhododendron Leaf
Spot , gray blight, twig blight, widespread on
azalea and rhododendron after winter injury.
Pestalotia
(see
Ascomycetes, Phyllachorales
Asci in locules immersed in groups in a stroma,
covered by host tissue at maturity; paraphyses
lacking; spores filiform.
Ophiodothella vaccinii Leaf Spot on huckle-
berry, and farkleberry.
Pestalotiopsis
palmarum ). Palm Leaf Spot , Gray Leaf .
Pestalotia rhododendri (see
palmarum (see
Pestalotiopsis
sydowiana ). Rhododendron Leaf Spot .
Pestalotiopsis aquatica (formerly Pestalotia
aquatica ). Leaf Spot of arrow-arum. Irregular,
chestnut-brown spots, up to an inch in diameter,
have purplish or dark borders and are wrinkled
concentrically. Acervuli are sparse, black,
erumpent on upper side of leaf. Spores are five-
celled with three widely divergent setae.
Pestalotiopsis funerea (formerly Pestalotia
funerea ). Leaf Spot , Bark and Cone Spot on
conifers. Pathogenicity of the fungus is question-
able. Median spore cells are dark brown; apical
hyaline cell has four or five erect setae.
Pestalotiopsis leucotho¨s (formerly Pestalotia
leucothoe¨s ). Leucotho ¨ Leaf Spot , apparently
following winter injury or other disease.
Pestalotiopsis maculans (formerly Pestalotia
guepini ). Camellia Leaf Spot , widespread.
Numerous, punctiform black fruiting bodies are
scattered over papery gray spots. The spores are
five-celled, bright olivaceous, with one to four
divergent, sometimes branched, setae, and
a straight, short pedicel. This species seems to
be a true parasite.
Pestalotiopsis palmarum (formerly Pestalotia
palmarum ). Palm Leaf Spot , Gray Leaf . Black
pustules are sparsely produced on both surfaces
Ovularia
Deuteromycetes, Hyphomycetes
Conidiophores emerging from leaves in clusters,
simple or branched; conidia hyaline, one-celled,
ovoid or globose, apical or lateral, single or
sometimes catenulate; parasitic.
